AnchorBridge Environmental Inc. is a nonprofit organisation environmental advocacy, education, and justice in Barbados and the wider Caribbean. Our vision is to champion the environmental health of our communities, enhance conservation education for youth, and promote environmental justice. We use our platform and resources to bring visibility and action to the most pressing environmental challenges, ensuring that those most affected are at the center of solutions.
We are committed to integrity, transparency, and accountability, we aim to build lasting relationships with impacted communities, continuously consult them and prioritise their needs in our advocacy. We believe in empowering young people by creating spaces where they can learn, innovate, and take meaningful action on environmental issues.
Our work is rooted in justice, acknowledging the intersections of classism, racism, sexism, and other social inequities that influence environmental decision-making. We align with partners and donors who share our values—those who respect the environment and uphold human rights. Through strategic partnerships, education, and advocacy, we strive for a more just future for Barbados and the Caribbean.
Vice Chair
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join the Board of Directors of AnchorBridge Environmental Inc. as Vice Chair on an unpaid, voluntary basis. This is an opportunity to contribute to a growing organisation that is at the forefront of climate justice and environmental sustainability in the region. The Vice Chair will provide strategic leadership, support the execution of the organisation’s mission, ensure legal and fiduciary compliance, and represent the organisation in expanding its network and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
Provide strategic leadership and governance to AnchorBridge Environmental Inc.
Support the execution of the organization’s vision, and long-term objectives.
Ensure the board operates within the framework of legal and fiduciary compliance, including adherence to tax regulations and CAIPO requirements for NGOs in Barbados.
Representation & Networking
Represent the organization at key events, forums, and conferences.
Expand the organization’s network by leveraging personal and professional connections in the environmental and nonprofit sectors.
Fundraising & Partnerships
Assist in fundraising efforts, partnership-building, and advocacy initiatives.
Collaborate with the board and staff to enhance the organization’s visibility and support.
Board & Organizational Planning
Actively participate in board meetings, discussions, and strategic planning.
Support the development of key organizational plans and policies.
In the absence of the Chair, perform their duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this role, applicants must:
Demonstrate knowledge of AnchorBridge Environmental Inc. and its mission.
Be familiar with the tax, legal, and CAIPO structures governing NGOs in Barbados.
Have a vested interest and passion for environmental justice and sustainability.
Possess strong strategic thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate a commitment to equity and non-discrimination in all aspects of their work.
Be highly organized and experienced in NGO operations.
Have a well-established professional network within the environmental and nonprofit sectors.
