AnchorBridge Environmental Inc. is a nonprofit organization environmental advocacy, education, and justice in Barbados and the wider Caribbean. Our vision is to champion the environmental health of our communities, enhance conservation education for youth, and promote environmental  justice. We use our platform and resources to bring visibility and action to the most pressing environmental challenges, ensuring that those most affected are at the center of solutions.

Director of Development

We are seeking a dynamic and independent Director of Development to support the growth and sustainability of AnchorBridge Environmental Inc. This unpaid volunteer role is critical in ensuring seamless operations, strengthening organisational capacity, and expanding our reach across the Caribbean. The Director of Development will play a key role in securing the resources necessary to further the organization's mission, build strategic partnerships, and enhance organizational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Organisational Growth & Strategy

    • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the long-term sustainability and impact of AnchorBridge Environmental Inc.

    • Assist in drafting and refining Standard Operating Procedures to improve organisational efficiency.

    • Work toward expanding the organization’s network, partnerships, and overall capacity.

    • Design and implement succession planning strategies. 

  2. Funding & Resource Mobilisation

    • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, grants, and collaborations that align with the organisation’s vision.

    • Prepare and submit funding proposals, manage donor relationships, and ensure timely reporting on grants and donations.

    • Strategize on fundraising initiatives to secure resources for organisational programs and operational needs.

  3. Operational & Internal Support

    • Support internal operational functions to ensure smooth and effective execution of projects and programs.

    • Manage organisational budgets and ensure alignment with funding and financial goals.

    • Monitor and evaluate the impact of fundraising activities and report on progress through monthly updates.

  4. Stakeholder Engagement & Communications

    • Build  relationships with key stakeholders in the environmental and nonprofit sectors.

    • Maintain a database of contacts, partners, and funding organisations.

    • Contribute to the development of communication materials, ensuring that the organisation’s vision and impact are well-documented and communicated to stakeholders.


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this role, applicants must:

  • Have a strong passion for environmental justice and experience working in the field.

  • Possess a well-established network of professionals and organisations relevant to climate justice, sustainability, and the nonprofit sector.

  • Be innovative, proactive, and capable of working independently.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity and non-discrimination in all aspects of their work.

  • Be highly organised and strategic in their approach to growth and development.

  • Have a strong ability in fundraising and securing grants.

  • Be experienced in managing donor relations, budgets, and monitoring and evaluating projects.

  • Be able to maintain a detailed contact database and submit monthly reports.

  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

This position is open to candidates from any Caribbean island or territory and does not require residency in Barbados.
